Little Falls Summer Camp 2020 Canceled

To the Parents and Guardians of the Little Falls Recreation Summer Campers:

After reviewing the CDC guidelines, unfortunately, I believe it would be virtually impossible to operate Summer Camp 2020.  We had hoped the pandemic issues would have been resolved sufficiently to operate the great summer camp program we in Little Falls provide each year. Summer Camp usually consists of 300 plus campers and counselors.   To properly socially distance such an active group of children as well as adhere to face mask regulations would negatively change the experience for the campers and we do not want to put anyone a risk during these difficult and unsure times.

This year the Recreation Center is undergoing some monumental changes, we are improving the entire facility by installing air conditioning in the Recreation Center, installing a new Pickle Ball Court and Storage building. The most visual change you will see is the conversion of the fields from grass to Turf. These improvement will all be completed by the early fall this year.

We have taken some interim steps to provide virtual events and experiences for our children and our Seniors. While these programs are much smaller than the on site camp program, we will continue to seek other virtual activity programs for our children to participate in, more to come on that.

While I am as unhappy about this situation as you are, I believe the risks in operating summer camp outweigh the gains.  That said there will be no summer camp program in Little Falls in 2020.

If you have any questions please contact John Pace or Tyler Passero at the Recreation Center.

Please stay safe during these difficult times and I know we will all come through this together, smarter and better equipped to manage any unknown situations we might have to deal with in the future.
