COVID-19 Vaccine Statement from Clifton Health Dept.

A MESSAGE FROM THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT:

We understand the community’s frustration and confusion with the registration process for the COVID-19 vaccination. We are doing the best we can under the circumstances and in a constantly evolving situation. We assure you that we are working diligently to distribute the vaccine we have on hand in the most equitable way and in an expeditious manner.

The guidelines for the vaccination phases have recently been updated by the New Jersey Department of Health.

Effective January 14, 2021, the following New Jersey residents are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine:

  • Individuals ages 65 and older
  • Individuals between 16-64 with medical conditions as defined by CDC that increase the risk of severe illness from the virus. These conditions include:
    • Cancer
    • Chronic kidney disease
    • COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
    • Down Syndrome
    • Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathies
    • Obesity/severe obesity
    • Sickle cell disease
    • Smoking
    • Type 2 diabetes

In addition, the vaccine remains available to those in phase 1A:

  • Healthcare workers
  • First responders
  • Long-term care facility residents and staff

If you have not already done so, please register on covidvaccine.nj.gov. Once you are eligible, you will receive an email letting you know when it is your time to make an appointment. At that point, you will be able to choose a vaccination location anywhere in the State of New Jersey that has available appointments. Please understand that there may be a delay in securing an appointment due to very high demand. The Clifton Health Department has NO control over how appointments are prioritized in the state’s registration portal.

We are working on a system to accommodate the Clifton and Little Falls community.

Please do not call the Clifton/Little Falls Police Department, Clifton/Little Falls Fire Department, or any other City/Township department for any vaccination-related calls. They cannot assist you with this matter.

You will NOT be able to be vaccinated at our vaccination clinic without an appointment. There are NO EXCEPTIONS.
