The Township of Little Falls is committed to the development, maintenance and promotion of a sustainable, safe and productive shade tree resource that benefits the physical, environmental and social well-being of the community and preserves the historical climate and character of our Township.
The Little Falls Shade Tree Commission has the responsibility for the regulation, planting and care of shade and ornamental trees and shrubbery located on public property in the Town of Little Falls. This commission will help sustain healthy populations of trees by planting new trees as well as pursuing the removal and replacement of all damaged, dead, hazardous or diseased trees, and the pruning of existing trees to foster their health and longevity in an effort to improve and beautify our town.
The Commission works with the Department of Public Works as well as assisting the Planning Board and/or Building Department in an advisory capacity when applications involve the preservation and inventory of trees within our Town.
In addition, the Commission will communicate to residents and businesses the need to protect and maintain each and every tree as healthy trees represents a long-term investment in the beauty, biodiversity and historic character of Little Falls.
Community forests add beauty to our township and increase property values. Trees decrease regional flooding and erosion, contribute shade from heat and wind protection from cold. Trees enhance privacy, buffer noise and provide homes for wildlife.
The Little Falls Shade Tree Commission will meet the last Tuesday of each month at 4:30pm in the Little Falls Municipal Building, 225 Main St, 2nd Floor meeting room.
