Homestead Benefit Program

2017 Homestead Benefit Program Announcement as of 09/14/2020: “N.J. homestead property tax relief not coming this year, treasury says for 2017!”

N.J. Homeowners will not receive property tax credits on their November 1st real estate tax bills as per treasury. The fiscal year starting October 1st for the proposed budget does not allow time to process credits to appear on the November Tax bills (treasury stated). Eligible homeowners likely will receive two installments of the credit in 2021, the first one on their February tax bills and the second installment in May (treasury stated).

Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement):

ALL TAXPAYERS: Option One: You can mail in copies of your tax receipted tax bills along with your checks instead of coming to town hall for our Tax Collector to fill out your Verification of 2018 and 2019 Property Tax form PTR-1A and/or PTR-2A.

Option Two: You will need to mail the Verification of Tax form PTR-1A and/or PTR-2A to our Tax Collector with a self-addressed stamped return envelope to be filled out and returned to you. A window drop box exists in the rear of town hall building in the Tax Collector’s window where you can place this form in a sealed envelope Attn: Tax Collector along with a self-addressed stamped return envelope and it will be mailed back to you after completion. Please include your telephone number for any questions.

The Division of Taxation mailed out applications for the 2019 Senior Freeze Program (Property Tax Reimbursement) to senior citizens and disabled residents who may be eligible for the program. The deadline for filing applications is November 2, 2020.

Note: The unprecedented impact COVID-19 has had on the economy has forced the state to freeze funding for many worthy programs, including Senior Freeze, and prompted the extension of the budget deadline from June 30 to September 30. Therefore, funding for Senior Freeze reimbursements that typically occur during mid-summer is unavailable at this time. Please check back here again in early October for possible updates.
