Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement)

The Division of Taxation has mailed out applications for the 2023 Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement) around February 21st to senior citizens and disabled residents who may be eligible for the program. The deadline for filing the applications is October 31, 2024. Due to the tax years for the majority of taxpayers the taxes decreased from 2022 to 2023 slightly; therefore, unless one had a 2023 Added or Omitted Assessment no one can file in 2023 as a first-time filer with the PTR-1 and PTR-1A applications; taxes need to be increased and not decreased to establish a base year; if not eligible for 2023 and there is a tax increase from 2023 to 2024 you may be eligible to file in 2025. If anyone needs a first-time filing application the Tax Collector will not have any available in her office; kindly contact the Division of Taxation if your 2022 to 2023 taxes increased only for that form.

Verification of Taxes PTR-2A must be filled out in its entirety (Part I) by the applicant and place this page only in the mail or drop box for the Tax Collector’s signature. DO NOT MAIL OR PLACE THE WHOLE BOOKLET APPLICATION IN THE DROP BOX! Place Verification of Taxes (PTR-2A) one page only in a sealed envelope in the drop box or drop off during Tax Collector’s public office hours which are posted on my web page. Include a self-addressed stamped return envelope to mail back to you; there are no pickups. Please allow 2-3 weeks once received for completion. No application(s) will be completed during a tax quarter which lasts for 10-15 days; these need to be sent in two weeks prior to a tax quarter (tax qtrs. are May 1st, Aug. 1st and Nov. 1st) or after each tax quarter ends.

Instead of having the Tax Collector complete the PTR-2A you may send in your required documents; see the instructions in the booklet for the same.

Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters (ANCHOR)

Updates to come, please check back.
New for 2020: We Will File for You; No Action Required by You

We will file 2020 ANCHOR applications on behalf of most qualified residents who received a 2019 ANCHOR benefit earlier this year. If you qualify, you will receive an “ANCHOR Benefit Confirmation Letter” in August of 2023, notifying you that you meet the requirements.

If the information in your confirmation letter remains the same as your prior filing, no action is required on your part. Benefit payments will be issued using the same method and banking information used in your prior filing and contained in your confirmation letter. You can check the status of your benefit payment beginning in mid-October.

However, if any information from your prior filing changed, you must file your application to update these changes (using one of the methods to the right) before September 30, 2023. We will not make adjustments to your name or banking information after September 30, 2023. Payments will be issued using the information we have on file.
